Kelly Hawkin 1969-2006

April 24th 2006 was one of the saddest days for all members of the club when we learned of the passing of our very good friend and fellow club member Kelly Hawkin. Kelly grew up in our club as his father Dan was a member for many years. Below is a photo of young Kelly his sister Lorie mother Dianne and father Dan

The family of KELLY HAWKEN is saddened to announce the passing of a loving husband and devoted father on April 24, 2006 in Moose Jaw. Kelly was active in the Regina Antique Auto Association and loved restoring his 1926 Hudson. Kelly worked for Roberge Transport and created a bond between fellow truckers and was always there to lend a helping hand. Kelly will be greatly missed by all who knew him but especially by his loving wife, Lana and his devoted son, Tyler. He is survived by his parents, Dan and Dianne, sister, Lorie (Doug) Kinloch, two special nieces, grandparents, Francis and Norma Wiman and Bessie Hawken (Bill Hawken deceased).  Kelly is also lovingly remembered by Lannie and Louise Erickson, Dorothy and Alcide Carignan, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. A Celebration of Kelly’s Life will be held at the Alliance Church, (corner of Thatcher Dr. & 9th Ave. N.W., Moose Jaw) on Friday, April 28, 2006 ay 1:30 p.m.  Della Ferguson will officiate. Interment will take place at Sunset Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, for those so wishing, a memorial trust fund has been set up for Tyler’s education c/o Bank of Montreal, 48 High St. W., Moose Jaw, S6H 1S3 (payable to Lana Hawken in trust for Tyler), or to the Sukanen Ship and Museum c/o E.R. Meacher, 1027 – 4th Ave. S.W., Moose Jaw, S6H 5V9. In living memory of Kelly, a tree will be planted in Wakamow Valley by W.J.Jones & Son Funeral Home.

Michelle Deagle - Moose Jaw, SK: Lana & Tyler, I am so sorry for your loss. I worked at XL Beef in the livestock office and saw Kelly almost everyday. He was a very nice person, always had a smile on his face even though sometimes he had to wait to unload his cattle. The guys always tried to get him unloaded as fast as they could. He was a great person and he will be missed by many. I was not a friend, more of an acquaintance, but you both are in my thoughts and prayers.

We were so sorry to hear about the passing of Kelly.  He was such a good friend.  Kelly was the type of person to help anyone at anytime.  He always had such a big smile and big heart.  We will definitely miss him--especially during the car show season.  It will not be the same without him.  Keep your memories close and he will always be with you.  We will miss him dearly.  We will be thinking of you both.

Deepest sympathy Lana & Tyler. Kelly will be missed but never forgotten.

Rocky Marchigiano - Moose Jaw, SK: Although I hadn't known Kelly very long, it's hard not to like Kelly. He had a warm and kind spirit along with a big smile and chuckle that stays with you. My heartfelt sympathies go out to the family. He will be surely missed by all that knew him. But rest assured he will be going to a good place.

Sheri Pedersen - Pound-Maker: Kelly was at our feedlot most days for the last 8 years,
sometimes even twice a day.  He always stopped to say hi, with his big coffee mug in his hand.  He was always smiling and had a friendly thing to say.  He was a regular here and we thought of him as one of our crew. We will miss his big hat, big smile and big heart.  Rest in peace, Kelly.

The Pound Maker Crew - Lanigan, SK: Kelly was one of the happiest guys that ever drove in our yard. His smile was a pleasure to see in the morning and the afternoon when he was here to load cattle.  He always took the time to visit each and every one of us to talk about his car, his son and life in general. Kelly was a genuine nice guy and will be sadly missed by our crew.  Our thoughts are with you.

Darlene Tingtved - Mortlach, SK: I was an acquaintance of  Kelly's  through work and it was always a pleasure to talk to such a cheerful and genuinely nice person. He was someone who made the day so much brighter.  Please accept my sympathy for your loss.
